My Care Philosophy
My first exposure to health care was watching my mother operate a clinic for the homeless. She ensured that I understood the barriers of healthcare in underserved populations. This lesson followed me as an OB nurse in the hospital. I came to appreciate my role in a mostly healthy life transition. Armed with the ability to recognize the underserved as well as educating and coaching patients in healthy transitions of life, I became a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner. These experiences have helped me guide patients through the lifespan in healthy transitions such as pregnancy and breastfeeding, puberty, sexual health, menopause, chronic disease management and end of life. My approach to family practice is to be your partner in these transitions, help you make decisions in health and sickness, and recognize and diagnose when things aren't quite right. I believe education is the key to shared decision making and it is my job to make sure you have all the information to make the right decisions. Together, we will consider your home, work, family and community as influencers of health. There may be unexpected barriers that arise in your health and illness. We will work together to do the best we can so you may feel the best you can.
