Being a patient at an academic health system means that you may have an extended care team. Often, your care is led by a physician who is also a faculty member at University of Minnesota Medical School—an institution dedicated to training the next generation of healthcare providers. Your extended care team may include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, residents, fellows and research coordinators as well as experienced nurses and other health care professionals.
Your primary physician always directs your medical care, in consultation and collaboration with the extended care team. Many of our physicians also conduct health research, which means we offer leading-edge treatments and expertise that may not be available elsewhere.
