Discover Our Difference

Discover the power of an integrated academic health system at M Health Fairview. Together, we are providing breakthrough medicine and transforming the health of our communities for the better.

Research and clinical trials

M Health Fairview supports over 1,000 research studies and clinical trials throughout the system with over 14,000 patients participating each year.

Want to learn more about or participate in a clinical trial? We invite you to become a Discovery Partner to become part of tomorrow’s breakthroughs and help us learn how to uncover better ways to treat, prevent, diagnose, and understand human disease.

What does it mean to be Discovery Partner?

  • Your name will be included in a registry of volunteers who have given permission to be contacted to receive information about research studies. We will only use the contact information you have provided to M Health Fairview.
  • You will be contacted to learn about studies that may be of interest to you. Participation in the registry does not mean you are enrolled in a study.
  • You can change your preference at any time. You may choose to change your preference in MyChart or by contacting the Research Administration at

Your care at M Health Fairview will not be affected in any way based upon your decision to become a Discovery Partner or participate in any future research study.

If you have any questions or would like any additional information prior to making your decision, please contact Research Administration at

To become a Discovery Partner, please log into your MyChart portal and search “Research” under the MENU option.

Your expanded care team

Your care at M Health Fairview is often led by a physician who is also a faculty member at University of Minnesota Medical School — an institution dedicated to training the next generation of healthcare providers. This means your care team may have additional experts, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, residents, fellows and research coordinators as well as experienced nurses and other health care professionals.

Your primary physician always directs your medical care, in consultation and collaboration with the extended care team. Many of our physicians also conduct medical research, which means we offer leading-edge treatments and expertise that may not be available elsewhere.
