As a pediatric pain specialist, my goal is to adequately treat pain in children and adolescents. This involves treating pain in a variety of different settings: from painful procedures (immunization needle pokes, for example), to complicated post-operative pain, to even chronic pain, such as chronic abdominal pain and migraines. Unfortunately, pain in this age group is, many times, under-treated. This can be a major contributor to adverse health outcomes and effects normal child development. However, through a combination of medicinal and non-medicinal strategies (such as hypnosis, distraction, acupuncture, and aromatherapy, to name a few) pain in children and adolescents can be adequately treated. It is my goal to see that this occurs in every patient here at Masonic Children's Hospital.
