For the 11th consecutive year, University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital has earned a spot among the best children’s hospitals in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report.

In 2018, five medical specialties at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital were recognized—more than any other children’s hospital in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. In addition, three of our specialties are top-ranked in Minnesota. The specialties, and our national ranking in each, are as follows:

In 2017, five specialties at our hospital were ranked by U.S News & World Report. Additionally, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine recently recognized 49 of our pediatricians and pediatric specialists as “Top Docs,” helping make University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital the top ranked children's hospital in the Twin Cities.

“Our recognition as one of the nation’s top children’s hospital is a testament to the legacy of innovation and quality at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and the commitment and compassion of our entire care team” said Joseph Neglia, MD, MPH, the physician-in-chief of University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. “It is an honor to serve the children and families of Minnesota and across the country.”

U.S. News introduced the Best Children’s Hospitals rankings in 2007 to help families of children with rare or life-threatening illnesses find the best medical care available. The rankings recognize the top 50 pediatric facilities across the U.S. in 10 specialties, ranging from cancer to urology.

The U.S. News Best Children’s Hospitals rankings rely on clinical data and on an annual survey of pediatric specialists. The rankings methodology considers clinical outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, efficiency and coordination of care delivery and compliance with "best practices.”

Though University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital is proud to offer nationally ranked specialty care in these five areas, we also provide a wide range of services spanning more than 50 specialties—all within walking distance of each other at our Minneapolis campus. For your convenience, the same pediatric experts who see patients at University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital are also available at locations in Woodbury, Maple Grove, and Burnsville— as well as local hospitals thanks in part to our partnership with Fairview Health Services.

University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital is the only pediatric healthcare system in metro with a partnership with the University of Minnesota Medical School, which allows for greater access to clinical trials and leading-edge advances in treatment and care.

UMMCH is also a family-friendly, engaging hospital with many amenities, including the recently opened Kyle Rudolph End Zone, an outdoor Sports Ngin Sport Court, our Blythe Brenden-Mann Wellness Center, and the Wilf Family Center.

“We are grateful for the expertise and experience of our providers and staff. Their teamwork is inspiring and makes it possible for us to deliver extraordinary care,” said Abraham Jacob, MD, MHA, chief medical officer of University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. “As a pediatric academic health center,  we are proud of how we differentiate ourselves with our missions around clinical care, research and education to improve the lives of our patients.”
