DRG stimulation is a state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive treatment for chronic pain from nerve damage. This can include nerve damage from traumatic injury, sprains, broken bones and previous surgery.
This treatment involves an extremely minimally invasive test using no incisions, sutures or staples. The test lasts seven to 10 days. Once the test period is over, you will have a follow-up appointment with your doctor to discuss how much your pain was alleviated. If the test is successful, the doctor can perform a minimally-invasive surgery to permanently implant the wires a few weeks later. This surgery is done in an outpatient setting and you can usually go home the same day. About 85% of patients are eligible for implant.
