University of Minnesota Health neurologists provide comprehensive, compassionate care for neurological movement disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor. Our Movement Disorders and Epilepsy Surgery Center was created to bring together neurosurgeons, neurologists, neuropsychologists, neuroradiologists, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists and other health care professionals to provide the best care for you.
Our exceptional patient care and leading-edge research in neurological disorders makes us one of the top neurology programs in the United States. For example, we helped pioneer the brain surgical treatment deep brain stimulation (DBS) before its approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). DBS is now an accepted therapy for essential tremor, Parkinson’s disease and dystonia. The University of Minnesota’s active DBS program has treated nearly 1000 patients since its start in 1997.
