We have an on-site cath lab, accessible 24/7 to conduct diagnostic imaging of the heart and surrounding blood vessels, should you need it. Some minimally invasive heart procedures can be performed right in the cath lab. That reduces disruptions for you, and improves your recovery time compared to open surgical procedures. Our teams have expert training in trauma care, cardiac (heart) care, as well as mental health and stroke care. University of Minnesota Health neurologists have also implemented Telestroke technology at Fairview Southdale Hospital in partnership with Fairview Health Services. Using emergency room video conferencing, Telestroke technology allows stroke specialists to rapidly evaluate patients, review the results of brain imaging tests conducted in a patient’s local emergency department, and coordinate treatment even when the patient and other doctors are miles apart.
For behavioral crises, we have a dedicated behavioral emergency service in the West Bank Emergency Department, 2312 S. Sixth St., Minneapolis. Any person, of any age, can receive crisis support, assessment and intervention services 24/7. No appointment is needed.
