University of Minnesota Health physicians diagnose, treat and provide follow-up services for patients with a broad spectrum of lung diseases. We also have a special team dedicated to interstitial lung disease. Our pulmonology program is consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report for its high quality, and we are known for our expertise and compassionate care. Many of our physicians are also involved in research, seeking better diagnosis and treatment options for persons with lung disease. Patients in our programs may qualify to participate in one of our ongoing clinical trials.
If their condition progresses to advanced, end-stage lung disease, they may be a candidate for a lung transplant. University of Minnesota Health has pioneered many lung transplant procedures, including the first heart/lung transplant in Minnesota. Today, we have the largest lung transplant program in the region, and our patient survival rates are significantly higher than the national average.
