All four M Health Fairview specialty clinic and surgery centers in the Twin Cities region achieved national recognition this month for high-quality care, performance, and COVID-19 patient safety.
Last week, Newsweek Magazine recently released its 2021 list of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers. The list recognized 400 centers across 25 states, including 12 locations in Minnesota. M Health Fairview led the Minnesota rankings, with three centers ranked in the top five, and a fourth placing sixth on the list.

M Health Fairview’s specialty clinic and surgery centers serve as convenient hubs between our network of primary care clinics and our acute care hospital sites. These centers offer patients easy, centralized access to dozens of specialists and perform routine, outpatient surgical procedures while helping patients avoid potentially costly hospital-based medical fees. If needed, patients can visit multiple specialists in a single day at these sites, making their healthcare experience easier and more streamlined.
Our locations in Maplewood and Burnsville are jointly owned and managed in partnership with Surgical Care Affiliates.
“We are proud of this well-deserved recognition from Newsweek Magazine, highlighting the excellent, coordinated care available at our clinics and surgery centers,” said Anesthesiologist Jacob Hutchins, MD, executive medical director of M Health Fairview Ambulatory Surgical Center. “Our patients benefit from one-stop access to dozens of medical specialists, with outpatient surgical capabilities that result in positive patient outcomes.”
To choose this year’s 400 honorees across 25 states, Newsweek Magazine asked a panel of experts and survey participants to evaluate quality, performance, and in-state peer recommendations. This year, the assessment also considered each facilities’ COVID-19 response.
“At Maple Grove, we are committed to ensuring that each patient has a positive experience as we deliver leading-edge patient care,” said Heather Sheridan, vice president, ambulatory specialty operations. “I am proud of each member of our team. This honor belongs to them.”
