Meet with our experts, participate in health activities at the Minnesota State Fair 2018

University of Minnesota Health experts will be out at the 2018 Minnesota State Fair between Aug. 25-30. Check out our complete schedule of events, health screenings and activities.
University of Minnesota Health has a bevy of events and activities planned for the Minnesota State Fair. Find us at the Health Zone in the University of Minnesota Central Building on Dan Patch Avenue.

Meet with health experts from dozens of different specialties, receive free health screenings and participate in a variety of family-friendly activities at the University of Minnesota Health exhibit during the 2018 Minnesota State Fair.

Scroll down for our complete schedule of health-related events and activities. All events are located within the Health Zone exhibit, which is housed in the University of Minnesota Central building. The building is two blocks west of gate 5 on Dan Patch Avenue on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.

University of Minnesota Health Neurosciences Day
9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 25

Check out a real human brain, learn fun trivia about the body’s brain and nervous system and take a spin on the prize wheel during Neurosciences Day. Our University of Minnesota Health Neurosurgery and Neurology teams include memory, psychiatry, epilepsy, stroke, trauma and neuro-modulation experts. Many of them will be on hand to talk about our services at the Minnesota State Fair.

University of Minnesota Health Mother’s and Children’s Health Day
9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 27

M Health is for Kids! Join us at the fair on Monday, Aug. 27, to learn more about how University of Minnesota Health cares for moms, babies, children, teenagers and young adults. Meet members of our nationally recognized care teams, and learn how we provide everyday care as well as the highest level specialty care if needed. University of Minnesota Health Aortic Center
9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28

Do you know the risk factors for aortic aneurysms? Many aortic aneurysms are often completely symptom-free until they rupture—making them difficult to detect by care providers. The University of Minnesota Health Aortic Center team will be at the Fair to discuss the importance of aneurysm screenings and prevention. Chat with our experts, or spin our prize wheel to win some University of Minnesota Health swag.

University of Minnesota Health Women’s Health Services
9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28

Come learn why the University of Minnesota Health women’s health services are unlike anything else you’ll find in the Twin Cities. We've assembled a first-class team of providers at the Women’s Health Specialist Clinic to implement a new model of collaborative and integrative medicine for women. From routine gynecologic care to cancer diagnosis and treatment, our multidisciplinary team offers services in a unique woman-centered environment, conveniently located on the University of Minnesota Medical Center West Bank campus and at the Masonic Cancer Clinic, Clinics & Surgery Center. Swing by our booth to learn how our team’s holistic approach helps patients reach their goal of achieving optimal health and wellbeing.

University of Minnesota Health Pediatric Trauma Services

University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital offers world-class resources to care for seriously injured pediatric patients. Come chat with the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital trauma team about what you can do to keep your family safe from harm.

University of Minnesota Health Comprehensive Gender Care
3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28

Fair-goers are invited to play a game for a prize while learning about services available through University of Minnesota Health Comprehensive Gender Care. This new initiative provides coordinated, compassionate health care for transgender and gender non-binary patients, wherever they are in their transition.

University of Minnesota Health Psychiatry
3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28

Psychiatry providers at University of Minnesota Medical Center provide expertise and compassionate care for children, adolescents, adults and families with mental health needs. Visit with our team of experts about latest technologies and therapies used to treat mental health conditions across the age spectrum, including transcranial magnetic stimulation—an FDA-approved treatment for depression.

University of Minnesota Health Heart Care Day
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29

Want to see a human heart? The University of Minnesota Health Heart Care team will be at the Minnesota State Fair to teach visitors about the anatomy of the heart and the long-term effects of heart disease. Fair-goers can chat with heart experts, see the latest technologies for patients with advanced heart failure and—yes—even see a real human heart specimen. 

University of Minnesota Health Cancer Care
9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 30
University of Minnesota Central Building

Join University of Minnesota Health Cancer Care providers and Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota experts at the state fair on Thursday! Fair-goers have an opportunity to learn more about avoiding and surviving the disease that affects nearly half of all Minnesotans—cancer. Discover the leading-edge treatments our doctors use to fight the disease, learn about the latest cancer screening guidelines, meet scientists discovering the latest breakthroughs, and ask the experts your questions.

At the booth this year:

  • Free skin and oral cancer screenings
  • Become a cancer scientist and try out lab tools
  • Get the latest information on screening guidelines to catch cancer at its earliest when it's most treatable
  • Learn how to stay healthy before, during and after a cancer diagnosis
  • Interactive presentations throughout the day on the stage, including Q&A with the experts
