University of Minnesota students return to campus on Aug. 29 and 30, which means patients and family members visiting the University of Minnesota Medical Center campus or the Clinics and Surgery Center those days should plan for slow-downs and extra traffic.

Student move-in times are scheduled between 1 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, and between 9 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30. Traffic is expected to be heaviest in the early afternoons on both days.

Fulton Street SE between Oak Street and East River Parkway will be closed and a detour posted. Increased traffic may also affect our patient shuttle service on the East Bank.

Patients traveling to our Ophthalmology Clinic located in the Phillips-Wangensteen Building may also experience slow-downs during the move-in period. We recommend that our ophthalmology patients use the University Ave. exit on Interstate 35W, instead of the Huron Blvd. on Interstate 94 to access the clinic.

Because extra parking spots will be needed for students and families, all patients are strongly encouraged to take advantage of our valet parking services at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and Clinics and Surgery Center entrances.

If you have questions, please contact your clinic directly or call 612-273-8383.
