Significant construction on Interstate 94 could mean traffic delays and detours for patients or visitors visiting the University of Minnesota Medical Center, University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and our Clinics and Surgery Center in Minneapolis the weekend of April 29.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced eastbound Interstate 94 between Hwy. 280 and Snelling Avenue in St. Paul will be completely closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, April 29 through to 5 a.m. on Monday, May 2. In addition, the eastbound stretch of Interstate 94 between Snelling Avenue and Dale Street will be down to one lane, though entrance and exit ramps in this segment will remain open.
The westbound lanes of Interstate 94 will be completely closed between Snelling Avenue and Cretin Avenue, nor will vehicles be able to enter I-94 from between I-35E and Cretin Avenue. A single lane will be open from Cretin Avenue to Hwy. 280.
Though both eastbound and westbound traffic will be able to exit at Riverside Avenue and Huron Boulevard near the University of Minnesota unimpeded, the closures further east on the freeway may lead to traffic backups.
Please plan for extra travel time if you will be visiting our University of Minnesota Medical Center, University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital or Clinics and Surgery Center facilities this weekend.
